There is a world of difference between having the attitude of saying, “I’m the only one who can turn this lump of clay into something beautiful.
You can do it too, but never better than me. Mine is always great. I’m a perfectionist.”
and…
You know what the curse of being a perfectionist (though none is but believe so) is, you never enjoy what you do. You DON’T dance with it, you never sing with it, celebrate it, love it, hug it, and say to it that YES, YOU ARE THE ONE I ALWAYS CRAVE FOR.
Because you bloody believe you’re perfect already.
Now, ‘craving’ is different. You crave for it. You want to make it look ‘a craft of a master’. And you’re ready to do anything to make it possible.
The focus than shifts from ‘trying to look perfectionist’ to ‘making the work perfectionist’.
It’s about the damn ‘Focus’. Where your focus is? Is your focus on the bird or it’s the eye?
You know, it’s not easy to have that attitude of making your work the perfect craft as of people take that as if you have the attitude and don’t want to change.
We do want to change.
But give us a valid reason. A valid reason for, let’s say, why we should not paint that sky pink, but blue.
And it’s such a beautiful feeling to have, when you, disappointed with the world, pick and dust yourself up and sit beside your work, and all your worries turn into vapour in the air.
So, where we were… ?
Yes, how to be the master of your craft!
‘Practice’. Practice is the key. So, keep looking until you find your It, and then keep practising your It.
Be the Foolish. Be the Master.
